Session 3b | Recovery: support mechanisms
This lesson will explore the various ways to support journalists who have been targeted, and ideally you should have as many options available as you can manage given your resources.
The following are the support mechanisms described in this lesson:
- Comments must be moderated
- You must offer digital security support
- Peer support
- Formal mechanisms
- Informal mechanisms
- Reassignment/ relocation or temporary leave where appropriate.
- Public statement of support
- Legal support is also key
- Editorial support
The lesson will also cover the importance of tracking the cases. It is important that the same individual or team responds to all reports, and follows up to see how effective their response was, so that responses can be monitored and evaluated over time.
